The Messengers Of Heaven: Understanding Angels

In biblical views, angles are not geometric figures but messengers of God. These spiritual beings plays a significant role in delivering divine and in carrying  out  duties  in  the  name  of  God.  As C. S. Lewis notes, “angels are spiritual beings created by God to serve as messengers and helpers to humanity” (Lewis, 1947). The concept of angels is deeply rooted in various religious texts, including the Bible, where they are depicted as celestial beings with a direct connection to the divine.

Angels are often depicted as beings of light, symbolizing purity and holiness. They are believed to serve as intermediaries between God and humans, guiding and protecting individuals on their spiritual journey. Throughout the Bible, there are many stories of angelic encounters, where these heavenly beings appear to deliver important messages or  offer   advice and protection to those whose need

One   of the most famous angels in   the Bible is   Archangel  Gabriel,   who is often associated with communication and sharing revelation. Gabriel plays a key role in announcing the birth of Jesus to Mary and the birth of John the Baptist to Zechariah, highlighting the importance of his role as a messenger of God.

Announcement of the birth of Jesus to Mary by Archangel Gabriel. Luke 1:30-33, “And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”

Announcement of the birth of John the Baptist to Zechariah by Archangel Gabriel Luke 1:13-14, “But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.”

Another prominent angel in biblical teachings is Archangel Michael, known for his role as a warrior and protector. Michael is often depicted as leading the heavenly army against the forces of evil, symbolizing courage and strength in the face of adversity. Revelation 12:7-8, “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.”

Overall, the concept of angels in biblical views serves to remind believers of the presence of divine beings watching over them and guiding them towards righteousness. An understanding  of the importance of angels in the Bible can provide comfort and reassurance in times of trouble, knowing that they are not alone in their spiritual journey.
