God attributes are characteristics that are typically associated with a Supreme Being or deity. God`s attributes answers the question of God existence and shows manifestation of His divine powers and selfless love for mankind which is exhibited through His works of wonders , creation, preservation , redemption and sanctification. These attributes can vary depending on one’s religious beliefs, but some common attributes of God include omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, and benevolence.
Omniscience refers to God’s all-knowing nature. It is believed that God has complete knowledge of everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen in the future. This attribute is often seen as a source of comfort for believers, as it means that God understands their struggles and can provide guidance and support. Isaiah 46:10, “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”
Omnipotence is another key attribute of God. This term refers to God’s unlimited power and ability to do anything. It is believed that God has the ability to perform miracles, to create and preserve the universe, and to influence the course of history. This attribute is often seen as a source of hope and strength for believers, as it means that God has the power to intervene in their lives and bring about positive change. Psalm 115:3,“ But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.”
Omnipresence is the belief that God is present everywhere at all times. This attribute suggests that God is not bound by time or space and can be with believers wherever they go. This idea is often seen as a source of comfort and reassurance for believers, as it means that God is always watching over them and offering protection and guidance. Jeremiah 23:24, “Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord.”
Benevolence is the belief that God is inherently good and caring towards humanity. It is believed that God desires the well-being and happiness of all people and works to bring about positive outcomes in their lives. This attribute is often seen as a source of love and compassion for believers, as it means that God is always looking out for their best interests. 1 John 4:16, “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”
God attributes are the best description of who is God and beyond His attributes there is no explanation required, His attributes speak of His existence, manifestation of His divine powers and selfless love, His appearance, personality and works of wonders. God attributes plays a significant role in shaping believers’ understanding of their deity and their relationship with God. These attributes provide comfort, strength, and hope to believers, as they affirm the power, knowledge, presence, and goodness of God. As believers reflect on and meditate on these attributes, they can deepen their faith and trust in God’s plan for their lives.
